Good bang for the buck April 2, 2010 David J. Trevino 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I used to use K&N on all my cars. Really hard to beat a performance filter. They are reusable, breathe better, and typically cost less in then paper filters in the long run. I started using Airhogs a while ago and have used them in three vehicles now. Very close to the same performance as K&N, and Amazon often has incredible deals on them. I barely paid more than the cost of a store brand paper filter for the last two I bought, and they work great.
Installation in 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX July 10, 2009 S. Hevener (U S A) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Some reviews say that this filter doesn't fit right which when trying to install in a 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX the normal way it won't allow the tabs on the upper half of the air box to engage with the slots in the lower half of the air box. I found that the problem is that the rubber edge molding on the filter is a bit thicker and made of stiffer rubber thus not allowing the tabs to engage the lower half of the air box. The trick I found was to hold the filter in place in the upper half of the air box while you engage the tabs of the air box into the slots in the lower half of the air box. There is no need to modify the filter; DO NOT TRIM THE FILTER. If you trim the filter particles may get past the filter and into the engine. This may be the reason why others have had trouble with the filter fitting.
I have yet to put enough miles on the filter to comment on any changes in performance, but will update my review when I do.
Review of FRAM Air Hog Air filter May 14, 2009 John D. Bossler (Dublin, Ohio) This washable air filter seems to allow more airto the manifold yet filter out the dirt particles. I recommend it and the price is right!
Doesn't Quite Fit Right January 13, 2009 John Brown 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent filter, but it doesn't quite fit right. I made sure to check that it was compatible with my vehicle, but when installing it, it was a little bit larger than it should be. This made it difficult to install and get the filter cover back on.
A tight fit, but worth every penny December 23, 2008 Alex M (Philadelphia, PA United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've always wanted to try something more than just the standard paper filters, but money was always the winner in the end. After having to trim some of the rubber molding to fit the filter in my Maxima (not supposed to have done that), it works well. I bought a spare just in case too.
